The Cooperative of Professional Nuclear Engineers (CPNE) aims to serve as a brain trust and a nuclear technology platform for the advancement of nuclear technology in Korea. With its team of experts who have advanced experience and expertise acquired during their careers, the CPNE can help address the shortage of highly qualified nuclear engineers and provide customers with top-quality technical services and guidance.
As Korea becomes an aging society, the nuclear industry's expertise is at risk of weakening due to the retirement of many nuclear professionals each year. To address this issue, the CPNE aims to serve as a resource for solving short-term imbalances in the supply and demand of nuclear engineers when new projects are launched.
The CPNE's team of experts includes those who have participated in the development and localization of nuclear technology in Korea, as well as experts from various fields with experience in all aspects of nuclear power plant development, such as design, construction, testing, and licensing. The CPNE's business areas include providing technical advice, technical service, research and development, and education and training related to nuclear reactor system design.
In the short term, the CPNE intends to act as a bridge for solving technical issues related to the licensing, construction, and commissioning of nuclear power plants and research reactors. In the medium to long term, the organization aims to promote the development of small modular reactors (SMRs) for marine applications, in preparation for future demands such as nuclear propulsion of high-speed ultra-large container vessels. The CPNE is striving to establish a mutually beneficial relationship with the nuclear industry.
